“There are designers that I admire, but I don’t look up to them. I don’t really look at what everybody else is doing. That’s a studio mentality. There comes a time in your life when you focus solely on what you believe is right, regardless of what everybody else is doing.”—
Last year I went to Southern Switzerland, every since then i’ve had this peculiar fascination with mountains. I go on many business trips this time of year - hence the lack of blogging - and the last two flights I took flew over The Rockies. Besides my face being glued to the airplane window, I started to wonder why the sight of mountains increased my heart rate and gave me a feeling of calm all at once.
Not to get all existentialist on you but to sit and stare at mountains, hearing nothing but the wind rush through the trees, or the sound of an intimidating groan representative of something so vast and cold, makes you feel quite small. You start to realize that everything we complain about; whining about our bosses, our friends being 15 minutes late for lunch, honking at the idiot driving 26 mph in a 35 mph speed limit, getting annoyed at the barista who made your iced coffee hot - it is all so meaningless.
As i’m gulping down my triple shot cappuccino hoping it will cure this jet lag due to getting back from Vegas at midnight, i’m browsing through the looks worn to the Met Gala last night.
First of all, Diane Kruger seriously can do no wrong, and Blake Lively is chasing her tail. Well done as always to both.
Second, I would probably like Kristen Stewart’s Proenza Schouler dress if she didn’t always have such a puss on. She slightly ruins it.
Can I just say - I don’t understand the fashion world’s obsession with Chloe Sevigny. Yes I get that she challenges the norm in fashion and has a unique style, but I hate her style. I pretty much hate everything she wears. That’s all.
Barbara Walters looked like she stumbled out of an Irish Pub in Philly during Erin Express. No.
Below are my favourite looks. Livia Guiggioli’s dress is pretty, but I mostly have that on here because Colin Firth is in it, and Colin Firth is always perfect.
