Morning Revelations
Morning Revelations
I realized a few things this morning - i’m slightly medicated with a head cold so bear with my jumbled and congested thoughts.
I love that every woman complains about Valentine’s Day, says they don’t care, but they/we all clearly do. Here’s the thing about this ‘holiday’, yes it’s dumb - but it’s not dumb because of Hallmark, or roses (I hate roses, truly), or chocolates, or high hopes and disappointments, it’s dumb because most women need the affirmation of being loved. It’s not even about being in a relationship or having a significant other. It’s about feeling loved by anyone or anything. Your friends, family, pets, shoes, toaster whatever. What’s so wrong with a day to tell your favourite people you love them? I also acknowledge that I probably care less about this day now that I’m not dating wildly inappropriate men who well for sure provide massive amounts of disappointment. So at least those years of disappointment and immaturity are over with.
Day of love aside, I’ve come to realize how little I have been using Facebook and Twitter lately. I am finding that either I’ve grown out of them or I’ll use them in ways I never did before. It used to be about sharing – but now I find that everything on Facebook is leaning/catapulting towards over sharing. When you are 19 it’s cute to post pictures of you and your girlfriends making duck-lips faces and post on your boyfriend’s wall every 5 minutes. When you’re in your late 20’s, 30’s, or 40’s it gets to be a little much. Listen, I’m well aware this is my own version of verbal diarrhea and over sharing in its own way, but it’s a personal opinion, and an explanation for my lack of participation lately. Twitter I use to see traffic or news updates anymore. I have been using Pinterest the most out of all of these social networking tools. I find it to be the most useful. I am finding inspiration in my wardrobe, taking note of more advanced yoga moves, creating projects for the house, planning gardening days, bookmarking fantastic recipe ideas and cooking healthier, and remembering favourite movies and muses. It can also be the product of over sharing, sure, but at least it’s a creative outlet. How many times do you find something wonderful online and forget where you saw it? No more!
Alright people, happy Tuesday! I will be posting some fashion week favourites soon, stay tuned!
